Protection of motors against overheating can be achieved by:
– overload protection,
NOTE 1 Overload protective devices detect the time and current relationships (I 2t) in a circuit that are in excess of the rated full load of the circuit and initiate appropriate control responses.
– overtemperature protection, or
NOTE 2 Temperature detection devices sense over-temperature and initiate appropriate control responses.
– current-limiting protection.
Automatic restarting of any motor after the operation of protection against overheating shall be prevented where this can cause a hazardous situation or damage to the machine or to the work in progress.

Примечание 1. Устройство защиты от перегрузки реагирует на значение интеграла Джоуля I2t (квадрата тока, протекающего в защищаемой цепи за определенное время) и если это значение превышает значение полной нагрузки защищаемой цепи - обеспечивает выполнение соответствующего управляющего воздействия.
- защиту по максимальной температуре;
Примечание 2. Устройство реагирует на максимальную температуру и обеспечивает выполнение соответствующего управляющего воздействия.
- защиту по максимальному току.
Если после срабатывания защиты от перегрева может произойти самозапуск электродвигателя, который может привести к возникновению опасной ситуации или к повреждению машины, то он должен быть предотвращен.
